| What Are The Benefits of Massage? |
With the ever-increasing stresses in today's hectic lifestyles our bodies suffer the consequences. Toxins get trapped in our cells and our system begins to break down. Massage helps to replenish nutrients and oxygen to our cells and tissues while removing waste and reducing stress. Massage helps renew our bodies through:
|
| What Will I Wear? |
| A full-body massage is traditionally performed with the client fully undressed, though you may choose to wear your undergarments. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress. You will be covered by a sheet, towel or blanket, except for the area being worked on at the time. |
What happens if I get an erection or have to go to the bathroom or if I have gas? |
| Massage is sensual and erections are a normal physiological reaction to touch. Massage Therapists are comfortable as long as you just relax and ignore it, the therapist will change her pressure or move to a different part of the body. If at any time you feel uncomfortable you can excuse yourself to take a few minutes or to use the restrooms. Having to eliminate body fluids that accumulate as lymph moves and urine collects is very normal as well as gas. |
| What Should I Do During The Massage? |
| Make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Otherwise, change your position at any time to make yourself more comfortable. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, even fall asleep. Others like to talk during their session. It's your massage, and whatever feels natural to you, is the best way to relax. |
| What Will The Massage Feel Like? |
It depends on the techniques used. In a general Swedish massage, your session will start with broad flowing strokes which will help you to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. Your massage therapist will use gentle but firm pressure, gradually preparing you for deeper touch. You should immediately inform your therapist if you feel any discomfort so your therapist may adjust the technique |
| What Should I Expect Afterwards? |
| Massage may markedly affect the entire body. Give yourself a moment to re-orient before slowly getting up. After a session, most people feel very relaxed. Many experience relief from aches and pains that have accumulated over months of tension, followed by a delayed onset of increased vitality. Remember, drink plenty of water for the next couple of days, to help the body rid itself of built-up toxins that were released into the blood-stream through massage and to rehydrate the muscle tissue to lessen post-massage soreness. |
